failure to launchReader comment on item: Today's Iran Debate Misses the Point Submitted by Frankz (United Kingdom), Apr 8, 2015 at 23:59 The point of the agreement is not to stop Iran developing their Nuclear arsenal. It's to deligitimize any steps that might be taken against them. Including obviously any action Israel might take. Time is an issue. There isn't any structural method of ensuring Iran never develops WMDs. Liberals always eschew piecemeal solutions because they always favour of a long term stability architecturally constructed. Therefore anything that falls short of that is relegated to short sighted political partisanship. The longer the Iranian regime remained under sanctions the greater the pressure would be and hopefully the less resources they would have to consolidate what already exists. Pressure that might have conceivably brought them down if the regime was as close to collapse as the left used to constantly assure us they were. The Iranian program is broad and wide and sanctions are what really isn't on the table anymore.
