Hello, Waz. You said,

I hope you realize that "killing higher vertebrate life" is not what I've been talking about happening in the coming years, nor what the Bible talks about with the coming of the Messianic Age. Perhaps you should make a point of reassuring me that you do understand this, so I don't have to address the issue any more.

The Bible talks about a coming Millennium, in which "higher vertebrate life" continues. Here's the whole passage. It's so straitforward, I'm amazed that some folks still have trouble with it:

Rev 20:
[17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
[18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
[19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
[20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
[21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Rev.20
[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
[2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
[3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
[4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
[5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
[6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
[7] And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
[8] And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

[10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

[14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
[15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev.21
[1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Did you see my point? The Bible does not talk about biological extinction, not for at least a thousand years. Atheist scientist Stephen Hawking agrees:

"Mankind will not be able to live a thousand years, if it doesn't find other planets as a new place of residence," famous British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking believes. The 71-year-old scientist urges mankind to actively explore space to survive.

"We must continue to go into space for humanity. We won't survive another 1,000 years without escaping our fragile planet,' he said. "Spreading out into space will have an even greater effect. It will completely change the future of the human race and maybe determine whether we have any future at all," he said in Los Angeles..."

You must know, of course, that I am not a disciple of Stephen Hawking. I'm just pointing out that his timetable for "biological extinction" is in line, timewise, with the Book of Revelation. I don't know why you keep bringing up this matter, which is obviously so far into the future. We have things much closer at hand to deal with, namely, the coming of the Messianic Age.

Reading down, you do address matters that will probably come about in a few years -- namely, a US-led, UN attack on Israel. You posed a question to me:

Don't you think the message is getting out - that islam is a bloodthirsy fascist cult , with many of their 1.4billion baying for the blood of 16 million Jews worldwide? And that the UN is a sham and is being often commandeered by vicious islamofasists trying to get their message of ignorance and hate out to a cynical world. I know so many people who've had at look at the whole Jewish/muslim issue - and it's quite clear to them that Israel is surrounded by intolerant, insane fanatics - determined to 'open up the gates of hell' - as many of them have boasted.

I can't see Western powers wanting to help them...

Again, please notice what I've been saying, this past year or so: The UN attack (Zech. 14) will only happen AFTER the Islamic attack of Ezekiel 38-39. The Western powers will NOT be "helping the islamofascists", as you say; they will be acting out their OWN anti-Israel and anti-Bible agenda. The Islamists will have been disposed of beforehand, as it says:

Ezek 39:
[6] And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
[7] So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
[8] Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
[9] And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:

"Magog", wherever it occurs in the "Old Testament", can always be located in what is now Turkey; and Turkey is the country that will lead the Islamic coalition against Israel. They will be soundly crushed; and at leas seven years LATER, Zech 14 will happen.

Iran is shown to be part of the Ezekiel 38-39 coalition:

[4] And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
[5] Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
[6] Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
[7] Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
[8] After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

"Persia" is roughly equivalent to modern Iran. Since Turkey is currently at odds with Iran, and fighting a proxy war against them, this prophecy obviously will not happen for some time. When Iran is weakened, and looks to Turkey to lead it and the other Islamist states (Sudan/ "Ethiopia" and Libya) in an attack on Israel, you will understand what I am talking about. Iran has to be weakened before this happens.

That's the way I read things unfolding -- in reverse order, according to appearance here. I don't know much about the scriptures; just these few things, which I am picking up as they unfold.
