In Response to your piece to ban Islamists, not Muslims

Mr. Pipes.....I agree with much of what you say. Still your suggestions are hard to enforce given our ability to vet incoming refugees isn't optimal. Difficult to differentiate between Islamists and Muslims though your suggestion in a better run America makes sense. Our FBI Director attests to our lack of readiness. Of course there has been a negative response to Trump. He is provocative but he also responds to threats to our homeland in a way that resonates for many people. I've read from constitutional lawyers that the constitutionality of Trump's suggestion is not an issue. We have a president who is feckless and ineffectual. Trump though off-putting believes our homeland is under attack. Radicals are already here. Do we want more? With Obama's insistence that we accept Syrian refugees, out safety becomes more of an issue.

I don't find it objectionable to shut down Middle Eastern immigration temporarily until we get a handle on how best to secure our safety, our first priority. Look at the European mess. Is that where we're headed? Engaging in serious research for all immigrants makes sense but we're not there yet. Meanwhile, danger feels close. It is hard to remain uncontroversial where this issue is concerned. Islamophobia and the omnipresent PC meme makes blunt talk objectionable even when it's right. Muslims are a source of unrelenting problems. Making nice won't work. Conservatives aren't idiots though their focus solely on Trump and not Obama/Hillary could sabotage 2016 and hand the win to Hillary. Yikes.
