"Policy of Zero Problems with our Neighbors" - Turkey's Official Policy

Reader comment on item: Turkey's Erdoğan Gambles and Loses

Dear Daniel Pipes,

Another of your superbly written pieces - both in form and content.

So an official Turkish sovereign "joke" might be sufficient commentary here;
I quote here merely the 1st paragraph of the page posted
by the government of Turkey
(not much else can now escape the Black Whole of Turkish journalism
which is continuously threatened by incarceration
for "terrorism" or "insulting" Erdogan:

http://www.mfa.gov.tr/policy-of-zero-problems-with-our-neighbors.en.mfa

"Aware that development and progress in real terms can only be achieved in a lasting peace and stability environment, Turkey places this objective at the very center of her foreign policy vision. This approach is a natural reflection of the "Peace at Home, Peace in the World" policy laid down by Great Leader Ataturk, founder of the Republic of Turkey. Besides, it is a natural consequence of a contemporary responsibility and a humanistic foreign policy vision."

Perhaps at some opportune time Daniel Pipes can enlighten us
on the irony behind the Arab and Muslim (as well as Jewish and Israeli)
custom of greeting someone with "As-salamu alaykum"
and its Jewish, Christen, and Western equivalents of "Peace."
In the mean time, here's what Wikipedia has to say on it:

Daniel Pipes replies:

Well, talking about peace is a worthy aspiration.
