On Pope Francis' comment

As for Mr. Pipes' comments on Christianity, there is a fundamental flaw in his comparison between what atrocities which Christians have committed against Jews and others throughout history and Islamic atrocities. Where in the Bible, especially the New Testment are such atrocities justified or mandated? The answer is nowhere. A religion has to be judged not by the behavior of some of its members, but by the teaching and behavior of its founder and its sacred books. There is absolutley no comparison between Jesus and Mahommad when it comes to behavior, besides the fact that the official narrative of the life of Mahommad, coming some 250 years after his supposed death, is mostly legendary. The wintess to the teaching and deeds of Jesus go back to the very generation which lived with him and saw him die on the cross.

As far as what Pope Francis has to say about Islam, as a Catholic who has some knowledtge of the matter, I cringe when I discover that he knows almost nothing about it and nevertheless makes comments. I agree that his comparison with Judas is way off. I just wish he would learn about Islam or consult those who know and could advise him before he makes statements.
