May 2017 bring a great victory of the light over the dark.

May the war be fought mainly using words, rather than human blood.

May it bring us all into a global brother-and-sisterhood.

If a huge bunch of Japanese can sing a German song with such finely tuned heart and gusto, there must surely be hope enough in this world.

May 2017 bring a great victory of love over hate, of joy over misery.

After which, we can start mucking things up again, as we usually do ...
