Tabula Rasa: "Make America Great Again"Reader comment on item: What Rex Tillerson Thinks Submitted by Robert (United States), Jan 8, 2017 at 11:53 Dear Daniel Pipes, I understand that you're in shock that an anti-Intellectual like Donald Trump has been elected P{resident of the United State - especially after super-smart Harvard-educated Barack Obama's 8-year Presidency. I'd like to suggest that perhaps, after all, the American Electorate, with its Electoral College inserted primarily by Founding Father Alexander Hamilton was a stroke of wisdom to protect the American public against the so-called Liberal Elite that's based on the East and West costs of our homeland. I'd like to suggest that perhaps what's overlooked is the fact that Business, or American Capitalism, is now going to run the United States for at least 4 years. Imagine for a moment, that the United States is now a Super-Giant Corporation, that that it's aim is to make Profit for all Americans. In that respect, as your nemesis, Lucky Luciano or Henry Kissinger, would have it, it's Business, and a "Blank Slate" at the very top, and one level below, is precisely the advantage of not having Ideologies, or preconceived views of Enemies or Allies. I can think of only the Founding Fathers as a time in which the Richest Gentry ran the 13 United States which had only then abandoned their status as British Colonies. Neither Trump - nor Tillerson - know much History, Diplomacy, or International Relations, but they can hire those who do onto the Third Tier of the government - as in the State Department, or the Diplomatic Corp. But Donald Trump certainly knows how to sell Snake Oil - and that was a successful American product for quite a while (and various versions of it, as in Oil "that doesn't cause Global Warming, still sells well.). The question to ask, I think, is do Russia, or China, etc., stand a change in Competition against American Business when American Business runs the Foreign Policy of the United States ? My concern rather with Time Frames; will the Trump Team gain immediate financial benefits for the United States, at the cost of possible disasters a few generations down the road of history? But if we put this serious issue aside (Global Warming) isn't it obvious that Trump leading American Business on behalf of the United States is by far more likely of benefiting the United States, than the Democratic, Liberal, Moralist, Internationalist, Obama, who, as a born Muslim, is not even capable of foreseeing the threat from Islam - a religion of War, and not Peace, in the 21st Century.
