Re dictators...

If "sucking up" to dictators is so bad, what about the puffery of Deng Xiaoping by our MSM and politicians prior to June 4, 1989? How many of those who decried our "dealings with dictators" loudly sang the praises of Fidel Castro, Mao Zedong, Ho Chi Minh, Yasser Arafat, Houari Boumedienne and a host of other "Third Wordl" and "Third Way" thugs-in-power?

Moral of the story: If you're a dictator, and you don't want the USA's professional agonized consciences to lecture you, be sure you are a Leftist dictator.
