The intent of Reader Steve Klein's message was not very clearReader comment on item: What Rex Tillerson Thinks Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 8, 2017 at 14:47 Dear Dr Pipes, The intent of your reader Steve Klien was not very clear. He probably implied that the policy of removing brutal dictators from middle east has not worked too well because the new regimes are even more brutal and follow the original Islamic principles. The history of the world indicates that very tumultuous and chaotic times needed for great revolutions to take place. I think Islamic world is at such a juncture. Islam has failed as a political system. The only thing that can save Islamic countries from more violence and troubles is adoption of secular democracy as the means of governance. A country cannot live in peace until all citizens are free to think and act without any unnecessary bondage. Secular democracy is long over due in Islamic lands. What is going on in the Islamic world today, is the sign of chaos and tumult that is needed to create a peaceful society. All people --Muslims and otherwise-- must think how to bring an end to the daily dose of murders in the Islamic countries. All political pundits need to meditate on this topic. And apologies for the Islamists will not help. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
