It's time for America to rally around our chosen leader [Trump] and stand up to our enemies.Reader comment on item: What Rex Tillerson Thinks Submitted by Michael S, Jan 12, 2017 at 15:53 Hi, Robert. You said, "[China] is ruled by the Communist Party; but it may not even be an Oligarchy, if the is ruled from the top down by President Xi." China is ruled by one man, as far as I can see: "December 27, 2016 "Party insiders say president wants to remain in office after his second term, breaking succession conventions. Xi Jinping believes in top-down decision-making by a small circle of advisers" -- https://johnib.wordpress.com/tag/hu-jintao/ and, "Updated March 1, 2016 5:55 p.m. ET "...Mr. Xi now had another demand: enforce unswerving loyalty to preserve "the party's centralized unity." -- http://www.wsj.com/articles/chinas-xi-jinping-puts-loyalty-to-the-test-at-congress-1456853257 Essentially, everything is centralized on Xi. There is no room for "disloyalty" in the inner circle of the inner circle of the inner circle, wherein he rules; so it looks like any serious dissent has to be expressed from the people. This is more likely than it might appear, considering how repressed the press is in China: demonstrations are an almost daily occurence, over various grievances. Without any opposition parties, there is no safety valve: when widespread discontent comes to a head, it will erupt explosively. This is why the social media is so tightly controlled there; but even so, "Where there's a will, there's a way". This is so much bigger than Trump, Tillerson, the South China Sea, North Korea and all the other things being focused on here. China is dangerously volatile -- not much less so than North Korea, but with far greater consequences. As for Trump's foreign policies, he has made it pretty clear that: 1. The US is tens of trillions of dollars in debt; and can no longer be the world's policeman, free of charge. Our allies must all pay their fair share, or they are on their own. 2. Our main allies near China are Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. All three can become nuclear powers on short notice. Of Japan, it is said that they could produce 1000 warheads in a six-month period, with the ICBMs needed to deliver them to anywhere in China. What's more, all three are in precarious economic and political positions; and Xi Jinping has been increasingly provocative towards all three. He has become accustomed, under Wimp Obama, scared Taiwan and a Japan and Korea still stuck in post-WWII dreamland, to seeing his aggression rewarded. In the Trump era, he may become suddenly awakened to reality: and that reality is that the US, at least does not plan to roll over and die any time soon; and maybe the Japanese don't either. Hillary Clinton did not get elected President. Trump did. Little Marco Rubio did not get elected President. Trump did. Jeb Bush did not get elected President. Trump did. The sooner Daniel Pipes and all the doubters get this into their heads, the better. THE WORLD, not Donald Trump, is pushing towards a time of deeper and deeper confrontation, even without Obama and McCain trying to start WWIII with the Russians in his last days in office. Trump could pick a cross between George Washington and Mary Poppins for Secretary of State, and not much would change. No matter who gets confirmed, (1) the Democrats and Republican Malcontents would not accept him/her/it, and (2) the world in in for a heap of trouble. I thank God that Donald Trump is going to be President in these times, not Barack Obama. So much for our "pivot to Asia". Further west, Trump really DOES want to "press the reset button" with Russia, something Obama told us over and over again that HE was going to do. Now he wants us to go to war with Russia, and the Clintonistas are with him. Trump really DOES want to stop trying to "democratize" the Middle East, and stop putting Americans in harm's way; but look at the opposition he's getting to this from the Dems and RINOs. He also plans to carry out our Congressional MANDATE to put our embassy in Israel in that nation's capital; but he's getting blowback from Jews, both here and in Israel. Lots of people threw their hats in the ring to become President; but the American people chose Donald Trump. It's time for our country to rally around him, and stand up to those who wish us harm.
