Obama would've done it even had Clinton won

Reader comment on item: Obama, Kerry and Netanyahu Go Visceral

Submitted by Anon (Israel), Jan 12, 2017 at 17:44

For many months Israeli officials talked of their fears that Obama will drop a diplomatic bomb on Israel after the elections.
This means that had Clinton won, this would've been Obama's way of setting a path for the Clinton administration to follow, laying rail tracks for the train carriage and establishing his legacy, alongside his disastrous Iran deal. The next four years would have been torture for Israel, and this is one reason I dreaded Clinton winning.

Now that she lost, one reads Obama's actions in the context of the Democrats losing but this is a fallacy given that this was planned several months ago.
However, I do not doubt the acrimony plays a part and that he relishes kicking Israel in the teeth. He probably also tells himself a Palestnian state may well be mostly peaceful. Someone who worships at the altar of political correctness may not entertain many doubts as to the wisdom of such actions.

Daniel Pipes replies:

The Israeli hope was that Hillary Clinton would dissuade Obama from going the UNSC 2334 route.
