I wish the ADL would stay out of itReader comment on item: Conspiracy Theories in a Time of Virus [COVID-19] Submitted by Anon (Israel), Mar 17, 2020 at 21:06 Those who have a fondness for conspiracy theories blame the West or America, not Jewish people. It's pretty much only some Muslims in faraway countries who say it might be Jews. Obviously China's government feels it might be beneficial if people imagine the virus came from abroad, from the U.S, for example. Whatever the ADL does, it appears to be incapable of doing anything good. Here, all it does it attempt to draw attention to itself ("Look at us, we are doing important work", they seem to be saying). No one who had claimed "the Jews" were behind the virus would stop as a consequence. By the way, according the Israeli media, in Muslim countries, relatively few try to pretend Israel/Jews have anything to do with this virus. The media here says such conspiracy theories have fewer devotees these days than once upon a time. This is not some remote problem. I disagree with the ADL on much but am pleased when it tends to its core mission of fighting antisemitism. Reader comments (38) on this item |
