More disasters and Muhammad the epidemiologist! Attention Craig ConsidineReader comment on item: Conspiracy Theories in a Time of Virus [COVID-19] Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Mar 27, 2020 at 08:28 Dr. Pipes, Here is the Hadith that Craig Considine is quoting and you will find it in various books of al-Ahadith al-Sahiha أذا سمعتم به بأرض فلا تقدموا عليه وأذا وقع بأرض وأنتم بها فلا تخرجوا فرارا منه This can be rendered as: (Dr Muhammad said): If you heard that it is (the plague/pandemic) in a land then do not go to it. And if it is in a land and you are in it (the land) then do not leave escaping from it This is very clear except what is really فرارا منه or escaping from it. Notice that the "it" is masculine. Now we have to Sunan Abi Dawud, and we find that فرارا منه means: اي يقصد الفرار منه فإن ذلك حرام لانه فرار من القدر وهو لاينفع This can be rendered as: Or the word al-farar or to escape, it means it is forbidden because it is ESCAPING FROM PRE-DESTINATION and this does not benefit! Nothing about escaping from the plague! This is the "wisdom" of Dr Muhammad the epidemiologist, and the foolishness of so called scholars the likes of Craig Considine that are foolish enough to quote literature in a language that they cannot read write or speak! More? It is shameful that he did not read the entire Hadith and did not take the time to check what it means. BTW: In other forms of the tradition we are told that Dr Muhammad said that one can leave the area of the plague for education, trade or for seeking treatment of an ailment! No I'm not kidding Here is the Hadith in Arabic and its explanation: https://islamweb.net/ar/library/index.php?page=bookcontents&idfrom=5363&idto=5364&bk_no=55&ID=1152 Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
