Demanding separation-of-church-and-state from MuslimsReader comment on item: Will Islam Survive Islamism? Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jan 19, 2022 at 11:14 Dear Dr Pipes, reader Ludvikus correctly observed that the Talibani regime in Afghanistan might demonstrate to the Islamic world that "there is no place in the world for Islamist". Ludvikus also observed that no country in the world wants to recognize the Talibani regime. I contend that the world needs to be more proactive than that. Governments and people of the world must make it very clear that we demand separation of church and state from the so called Islamic societies. Period. And, "non Muslims can live nicely under Islamic rule" is ridiculously removed from democracy, freedom, and separation of church and state. This is a principled stand and it should be demanded from current and future Islamic nations. There should be no such thing as Islamic Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan or Iran or whatever. Muslims need to understand that symmetry is crucial and what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. The above demand is one part of my 3-part strategy toward opposing political Islam: 1) Offer polite and truthful but firm criticism of what seems wrong in the Islamic practice. 2) Judge Islam not by standards set by Islam but by modern/shared standards. 3) demand separation of church and state from the, so called, Islamic societies. In the modern age of universal communication, Islam will not be able to deflect genuine criticism.
