Could this happen here?Reader comment on item: How Muslims Can Catch Up Submitted by Jonathan E Burack (United States), Jul 22, 2022 at 09:02 If the relentless and irrational forms of wokeness continue to dominate academic institutions, media, and other institutions, could we not wind up in the same place as Muslims did after the eleventh century. That is, is wokeness a religion of sorts, and is not the ever-encroaching power of the DEI arm of wokeness a new priestly class with its inquisitorial impositions of this "religion" on secular life? Even now it is extending its reach, from education, the schools, academia in general, even to medical training facilities, to corporate governance, to the very principles of objective scholarship and rational thinking and merit. The end result could be a new dark age. I don't think so, but it seems like a distinct possibility. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: Yes, the universities do seem worryingly beyond redemption. Reader comments (48) on this item |
