... But Muslims arm twisted Nigerians alsoReader comment on item: How Muslims Can Catch Up Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 6, 2022 at 17:01 Dear Dr Pipes, In my above message, I mentioned that Rule 37 of Constitution of Nigeria can be a framework for Muslims to learn about how governments should treat religions. I continued my exploration of the said constitution. It mentions the words Islam or Islamic 28 times. All of these 28 mentions were in the context of something that is referred to as Muslim Personal Law. There is no mention of Christ and Christianity in the constitution. We all know that Christianity is the other most popular religion in Nigerian. It seems that Nigerian Muslims managed to arm twist good modern Nigerians to get special provisions for themselves. I find it shameful. Nigeria/India have good relations and mutual respect. Secular India also allows special privileges to Muslims under a personal law for Muslim in India. It is possible that 1999 Nigerian constitution picked a wrong leaf from the 1950 Indian constitution. This brings me to my stated principle of polite but firm criticism of Islam whenever needed. There is no justification for Muslims to be able to create their own exclusive theocracies in the lands that they have occupied and, then, create sublaws for themselves in the lands that they have not occupied yet. Islam's intellectual foundations are very shallow and its hypocrisy goes miles deep. It will not be able to withstand the burden of truth. We justbneed to speak the firm, polite, honest and relentless truth.
