Mahmoud Abbas PhD ThesisReader comment on item: How Muslims Can Catch Up Submitted by Prashant (United States), Aug 7, 2022 at 15:47 Dear Dr Pipes, Islam thrives via the words and deeds of famous Muslims. Lately, I have developed the habit of researching prominent Muslims and track their recent or past activities. Mahmoud Abbas, Ilham Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Asauddin Owaisi, and many others etc give me good material to think about whenever I want to. Today, I stumbled upon the fact that Mahmoud Abbas actually holds a Doctoral degree. That was very good to know and needed further investigation. Abbas' thesis was entitled "The Other Side: The Secret Relationship Between Nazism and Zionism". In his thesis Abbas said that "the Zionists collaborated in killing a large number of European Jews in order to encourage the rest to embrace Zionism and emigrate to Palestine." (Wikipedia qoute). Thus, Abbas' entire PhD thesis is based on an outlandish conspiracy theory that he came up with. I often think that the modern Islam is a matter for psychologists to investigate: How come a very large group of people believes completely unbelievable things and propagate them? How come so many people (billions, that is) continue to stick to beliefs that are untenable and/or hypocritical? How come their belief in their theses is so strong that they can kill and die for that belief? I find it outrageous and offensive that someone could propose that the Zionist hired the Nazis to harm themselves. It is even more outrageous that an academic department granted a thesis on this topic and the scholar never questioned his own thesis. What is most outrageous is that this scholar grew up to become the head of (the so called) Palestinian nation. Amazing are the ways of Islam.
