Colonialism was never a good idea but Islam's problems are completely self-madeReader comment on item: How Muslims Can Catch Up Submitted by Prashant (United States), Jul 22, 2022 at 23:39 Dear Dr Pipes, Muslims who criticise colonialism for their problems must be reminded of at least two things: 1. Lot of people were colonized but Muslims only became permanent cry babies (or terrible twos). India, for example, never adopted the Islam-like violent ways even after emerging from 1000 years of Western and Islamic colonialism. India resorted to education, sciences, and literature to defeat the after-effects of the colonialism that it went through. 2. Muslims' calling the Western colonialism bad is like pot calling the kettle black. You are a colonialist if you attack other nations, kill many and convert some, and rob everybody. Muslims did it to everyone from Jewish tribes in Yatrib in the 7th century to Hindu Kashmiris in Kashmir in the 21st. Compared to Islamic colonialism, European colonialism was a cake walk. Islam has a long way to go before it is at par with the modern and fair world. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
