Mr. Jerome,

You are exactly right .. this is unfinished business with our fascistic Arab enemies. They fled, they bred and they are back. They have always wanted to restore their damned caliphate (which, in my opinion, was no great thing while it existed) and now have every intention of doing so.

Those who would chide others for making much of a fantasy 'held by a small group' would do well to remember that Hitler's goals were also fantastical. Hitler was only one person but, in short order he attracted plenty of others enthralled enough with his darkened 'vision' to willingly enact unimaginable levels of horror.

No one gets to plan to regress back to a so called Golden Age without their plans being fueled by a fantasy. The issue ought not be whether the Islamist goal is fantasized (it is) but whether they have the means to bring about havoc and absolute destruction while they attempt to realize their fantasy (they do).
