As always, it's about the lawReader comment on item: Blaming Islamic Apostasy Laws on Western Imperialism Submitted by Victor Purinton (United States), Apr 6, 2006 at 15:38 The apostasy issue is just one item in a long list of issues relating to secular vs. religious law. Our friends on the far left, the Bush-haters and war-opponents of DailyKos, agree with us on this one point:http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/4/6/141345/2707 Western leaders have to start using the phrase "permanently secular", start using it loudly, and start using it often. Whether it's facing Christian Reconstructionists or Fundamentalist Islamists, those of us who believe in secular law have to get the word out that no religious law of any type will ever be enforced on one square inch of our western secular lands. I think, when Bush heard that a convert might be executed in Afghanistan, that he should have said, "This is why we don't have religious laws in the US, and we never will. The world is watching."
