For Fahad: and his bogus claims and assertions!Reader comment on item: The Pentagon Looks at the Koran Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Oct 14, 2006 at 08:53 My dear fahad rabina yu3alimuka akthar wa akthar you wrote: "That's right. There isn't a single verse in the Qur'an where the word Jihad is used as a call for violence and murder against apostates and unbelievers." This claim betrays your total ignorance of the genuis of the grammar of the Arabic language and other semitic languages (Hebrew and Syriac). And it is all in the root system where if you have a word you can very much guess the root of the word and the various stems of the root. It also proves to me that you know no Arabic and in the case that you indeed know Arabic, your command of grammar is poor. Now, here is your today's lesson in the Muslim masora (do you know what the word masora means? I very much doubt it).: Take the word al-mujaahiduna in Q4:95. It means: (the) those who fight jihad or holy war (see Ibn Manzur's Lisan al-3Aarb and do not give us your lame excuse that the word jihad is not in the Qur'an as the Qur'an is not a garmmar book or a dictionary) The root of the word mujaahiduna is: JHD (see Sibawayhe's Kitab) and it would be al-mujahid (s.m) and al-mujahida (s.f) and al-mujahidan (dual case m) . Yujahid (he fights a holy war or jihad) and tujahid (she fights a holy war or jihad). Jahada is the verbal noun and this case the word Jihad would mean holy war. et viola. Now let us take a different stem form the root JHD and let us examine the word al-mujtahidun. It means those that strive to improve themselves. Very different word with a very different meaning but share the same root of JHD with al-mujaahiduna. Mujtahid (s.m) Mujtahida (s.f), Yajtahid and tajtahid and in this case the wrod jihad would indeed mean "an endeavour towards a praiseworthy aim" (see Peters) So your bogus claim that there is no such word as jihad in the Qur'an is nothing but bogus claim and it betrays your total ignorance of the Arabic language Now, if we turn back to Q2:216 you will find the "Kutiba 3aliakum (ordained for you) al-qital " and the word qital here means holy war or jihad. And as a matter of fact this aya is the foundation of the doctrine of jihad or holy war in Islam. (see Malik's Kitab al-Jihad pages 443-471 ch 21). As for you bogus assertion that there is no such a thing as jihad and a call for violence against apostates and unbelievers this is nothing short of ignorance because: 1. The last revealed sura in the Qur'an or so we are told is surat al-tauba. 2. Based on the doctrine of al-nasikh wa al-mansukh any dispensation in surat al-tauba will abrogate a previous and earlier dispensation in the same subject matter What can I tell you? the ... Muslim theology. 3. This means that the "no compulsion in religion" was abrogated by ayat al-sayf or Q9:5. So much for your allah changing his mind. 4. Now the new dispensations are: A. In the case of the pagans/polythiests: kill them (see ayat al-sayf). B. In the case of Ahl al-Kitab whoever they are your Allah's final revelation is: "Fight (holy war that is) those that do not believe in Allah and then the usual blah.....blah....blah including the mafia tax aka jizya. C. But that is not all if you believe Ibn Qatada (see also Ibn Taymiyya), he states that in Q9:30 your Allah declares that _both_ Jews and Christians must be polytheists (we have the funny claim that Ezra or 3Uzair in the son of Allah and the Tirnity) so congratulations my dear fahad your Allah is asking you to go out and fight and kill the unbelievers and all for no reason at all . And then you claim that the Qur'an is not a violent book? Shame on you. How many times do I have to say that? Your claims and assertions are bogus. And are you still itchy and shall I send you some calamine lotion? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
