All You Need Is LOVE - LA - LA LA - LA LAReader comment on item: A Democratic Islam? Submitted by Oliver (United States), Apr 29, 2008 at 01:11 Dear Syed Kasim, You are chock full of the false knowledge about Christianity that is pedaled by your Imam's. You did not produce one iota of evidence for any of the falsehoods you presented. You are of the opinion that Jesus was calling the Jews to return to the religion of Moses and the Law and that somehow Paul invented his own religion that was opposed to what Jesus brought. Bring forth the evidence. In reality Moses, Jesus and Paul all taught the same things, I'll show you: Moses: Deu 6:5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Lev 19:18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. Lev 19:34 You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Jesus: Mat 22:37 And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Mat 22:38 This is the great and first commandment. Mat 22:39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Mat 22:40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." Mar 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' Mar 12:31 The second is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. Joh 13:35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." Joh 15:9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. Joh 15:10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. Joh 15:11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. Joh 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Paul: Rom 13:9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Rom 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Gal 5:14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus came preaching a new paradigm, a new commandment and a new covenant of LOVE. The Jews by this time had perfected the ‘Keeping' of the Law; so much so that they were conceited in their supposed self-righteousness to the point that they criticized Jesus and His disciples for ‘Breaking the Sabbath'. What – Jesus broke the Law of Moses – Him in whom no sin could be found? Mat 12:1 At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. Mat 12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, "Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath." Mat 12:3 He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: Mat 12:4 how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Mat 12:5 Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? Mat 12:6 I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. Mat 12:7 And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. Mat 12:8 For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." The Jews thought it was all about Keeping the Law – when it was really about showing mercy – loving your neighbor as yourself. What was it that Jesus preached? Mat 9:12 But when he heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Mat 9:13 Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." Paul clearly states that after his conversion he received his gospel as a revelation from the Lord Jesus: Gal 1:11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. Gal 1:12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. And I have already proved that Moses – Jesus & Paul all taught the same principle – LOVE. But what about John? 1Jn 2:7 Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. 1Jn 2:8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 1Jn 2:9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. 1Jn 2:10 Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. 2Jn 1:5 And now I ask you, dear lady--not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but the one we have had from the beginning--that we love one another. 2Jn 1:6 And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, so that you should walk in it. Keeping the Law of Christ is not about ‘crossing T's' or ‘dotting I's' or making sure our ‘good deeds' outweigh our ‘bad deeds' – no, it's all about loving and extending mercy to our neighbors. Hummm … kinda flies in the face of what Muhammad / Allah taught! I wonder why? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
