Obama commentsReader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance Submitted by Barry Sunshine (United States), Oct 23, 2008 at 14:08 First - What is your point about Obama's connection to the Muslim religion as a boy and a young man? Aren't most of us what religion our parents are? Do we even make a conscious choice at that age? We do what our parents tell us at that age. What he was then is pretty irrelevent. Why promote what was an unconscious thing that is irrelevent? He wasn't "actively" a thinking Muslim, so he doesn't trhink of himself as having been a Muslim. His two "fathers" were just passing through his life. Radical Muslims are only recently of interest to the media and found to be objectionable. Obama's choosing to become a Christian is more acceptable to the media, whereas more Jews have been killed by Christians, over longer time, than have been killed by Muslims. The point is actually, Obama is now a Christian and his religion is his personal choice. Get off this "hidden Muslim past" line! ... Second - You seem to have an agenda of warning your readers about the "hidden" connections of Obama to radical Muslims, so they will know, and therefore vote against him. The implications are that Obama has a "hidden" agenda. That there is a quid pro quo happening, or going to happen, with these people if Obama is elected. Instead of these half-truths and innuendos, why not come out with actual evidence of this actual quid pro quo? What are your actual fears? Why do you assume these connections, which are tenuous, and promoted by the other parties, are going to adversely effect Obama's policies and actions? Why do you presume he is weak-minded and easily influenced by these people? Why not consider he is strong-minded and may influence them for the better? Why do you presume they are all-powerful? Why presume the American people can be easily duped, or that Obama wants to dupe us? Why not consider and talk about the overall benefits of an Obama presidency vs. the possible, improbable, downside effects of his Islamist connections. Why not consider what your doing to encourage a McCain presidency. McCain's major claim to fame is his character was forged by long term imprisonment. Other than that, he can't even pronounce the names of the various foreign people he would have to deal with. He has a volatile personality. He claims to be weak on understanding economic policy. His health plan is silly. His foreign policy knowledge is inferior to Biden's. His major decision was to choose Sarah Palin - a plucky but completely unqualified person. A brilliant choice to appeal to his "base" who was luke warm to him, to solidify them behind him, to give him the only chance he has to win the presidency. A totally political choice, and business of politics as usual choice for a guy who claims to be a maverick and going to promote change in DC, a guy who is going to throw out the "scoundrels". Instead, his choice is the epitome of same old, same old, and speaking of quid pro quo, who is McCain going to pay back, if elected? Palin believes because some native villagers can see Russia she has foreign policy experience with Russia. Palin, who never attended a Northern Alliance meeting, and spends more time in Wasilla than in Juneau, who probably can't pronounce Ahmadinejad, who probably doesn't know who Khomeini was, who has never been to Israel, who probably believes Israel should be Jewish so Armageddon can come, would become our cowboy vice-president. Palin, who associates with people who want to secede from the US, who with her husband can dress a moose, would, if elected, by definition, de-value our standing and presence in the rest of the world and therefore seriously inhibit our abilityto be an effective force in the world. ...
