Constitutional Dilemma - America's Security is Forfeit if Its Security Cannot be Guaranteed ConstitutionallyReader comment on item: Obama Would Fail Security Clearance Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 28, 2008 at 12:05 These latest exchanges answering this post are now mere extensions of the facts and speculations of months and years worth of trying to figure out just who Barack Hussein Obama is. If we were reading such things about the latest celebrity on the cover of supermarket tabloids, many would take such things with a grain of salt, or disregard them as Hollywood fluff that tingles us with sensations of useless gossip, or whatever. But we are not concerning ourselves with Hollywood celebrity (though with all the media sensation one could not help but think along such lines), we are concerning ourselves with the future of the United States of America, and of its continued existence as the founding fathers planned and intended. For if even just one or two of the issues defined here had any creditability, this nation is in more trouble than all the years of the Civil War, the First World War and the Second, and all the national economic troubles combined. It would be cause for any rationally minded citizen to wonder, what are we doing to ourselves, and why? The polemic that is the political landscape here in America is one that has taken years to come to this extent; yet in this phase of the fulcrum swing, it has happened almost all within this reader's lifetime. It is certainly within this reader's parents' lifetime, and it is appalling. As wild and far ranging as the political swinging has gone in times past, it always managed to come to pause at center for even a brief period of time to keep a balance. Such is not the case today, nor it appears, it will not in the remaining life of this country. Why? Because the Adversary is at work and burning with extra intensity for what is at stake. Look at the world and see a circumstance of volatility the likes of which was seen prior to World Two, but never to the scale that is the foreboding seen today. Needing only the slightest provocation, we are moments away from engaging in the full expansion of hostilities that will beset this world in culmination as World War Three with full nuclear exchanges. The excursion into Syria, on the other side of the powder keg that is Lebanon, has made for increasing Middle East tensions in way that would make Syria to come to the assumption it is next after Iraq. And why not, for Syria, even with its on again-off again status of state sponsored terrorism only thinly veiled from world view, is making ready to move in collaboration with other like-minded national and quasi-national entities to overrun Israel. And what better provocation than some incursion of its sovereign territory, linked with Israel's ties to the United States as a possible ally. It could not get any spookier than that. There are other such situations in the Middle East or other nearby regions that can have similar repercussions. Looking further, but not so far from home, is the new left link-up of the Latin American country of Venezuela, and of the ambitions of the socialist president there. Looking at his new alliance with the Russian president and the collaboration of military exercises with a floating nuclear missile platform (‘the nuclear missile cruiser ‘Peter the great'), who needs to worry about Castro's antiquated antipathies against the United States. The perception that the United States of America is possibly still the most powerful nation on earth is one that needs to be reviewed in light of the global economic crisis. In order to keep national defense viable requires tremendous amounts of capital, something that America used to have plenty of, and with some to spare. The economic engine that was America's in times past has been exported constantly for fifty or so years, but there was always the return on the investment. No longer, for if seven hundred billion dollars leaves this country for its fuel costs, and a minimum seven hundred billion dollars is taken from the central core of America productivity to cover the criminal negligence of a uncontrolled capitalist frenzy allowed by a democratically controlled legislature, one can only have nightmares about what is going to happen next, for those depended on to fix the problem are the very ones who caused it, no matter the partisan labeling. The president may have tried to set policy, but the American congress has the wallet and it can pay for whatever they want to, even over the electorate's best intentions. This is what is at stake in the next American election. These things - the world at war, the economy in distress, and the internal societal fabric under extreme attack for the sake of extending unwarranted personal liberties of minorities over the general welfare of all - face the next person who has dared to think he (or she) can provide the courage, stamina (intellectual, moral and ethical), and leadership necessary to keep America on track as the most blessed nation on earth. To whom should the electorate place its trust? This time around, no one can get past the media blitzes and the to get a true picture of really what is at stake. As mentioned, the world is at the threshold of imploding upon itself, and the American worry should be, are we ready? Since it could go nuclear in the next breath of the person whose mentality is so disposed, who would America want to have the knowledge contained in an innocuous little briefcase, in times past (who knows its current nickname) known as the ‘football'? In the question posed by the topic of this post and the exchanges found here, we are told that the democratic nominee could not pass a security screening in order to gain access to the sensitive positions in this nation's other governmental activities. Further, the media has done a better than average job of keeping negative associations of the democratic candidate under cover until the election (after which time such things will become academic if he is elected). Seriously, even if only half of the assertions are true, is this a person the nation can afford to have in power when his allegiances the media is trying so hard to cover up are ready to move against the country with the unrestrained power of the presidency and an aligned congress at their disposal. Even internationally, the enemies of the United States are posed to align to his covert identity, and true Americans along with the malcontents are ready to give him his chance. For years we have heard from the conservative influences of the Christian right saying, actually quoting, Second Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." In that vein, the hope was held that this country could turn itself around if national repentance were sought after and the right people were placed in positions of authority. The problem with that is that true discipleship in the Almighty God of the Holy Bible is not the focus of mainstream American religion. If it were, there would not be Roe v. Wade. If it were, the American administration would not be trying to bargain Israel's rightful land away for peace with American and Israeli enemies. If it were, Americans could see through the smoke and mirrors of the democratic party offerings and make a more informed choice for the most qualified individual to lead this country. If it were, this country would be at its knees before the LORD, begging for mercy and restoration of the Light that once guided America to its former stature of the land of the free and the home of the brave. Sadly, those are hollow words to a possible majority that no longer sees the Light, but content themselves with smokey ideas that change, moving away from all that once made America great, is what they should vote for. As scripturally pronounced, the LORD has honored His WORD and will give them what they desire, even if it means their destruction. In the final analysis, the LORD says His WORD will not return to Him void; that it will accomplish what He has purposed. Truly the LORD will honor His WORD, and will take with Him those that do the same. There will be no voting on that, no matter who becomes president. There is nothing left to be said.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
