Obama's words and methods are rightReader comment on item: Reflections on Obama's Inauguration Submitted by George Walter (United States), Jan 27, 2009 at 02:46 All the people who are scared of Obama miss a simple thing -- as much as the rest of the world is tired of Islamist politics, terrorism, and fascism, bombing Islamic countries cannot be a solution. And in that sense Obama is exactly what we need. The war against communism was won due to two reasons 1) the unsustainability of communism as a viable economic system and 2) by relentless propaganda by the west about what was wrong with communism. Luckily, fundamentalist Islam --which is claimed to be a way of life and, thus, as an economic system-- is as unsustainable as communism was. A system that wastes its youth's formative years in 7-day a week religious schools (not a religious Sunday school but a 24x7 madrassa), a system that wastes half of its population subordinate to the other half (and not based on merit), and a system that preaches isolationsism instead of inclusivity, cannot survive as for too long. It will either collapse or change. Sites such as this are doing exactly what is needed -- they are providing platforms for ideas to be exchanged. Liberal thoughts will start from here and permeate into fundamentalist Islam. We just have to say what we believe in once. Then we have to say it again. Then we have to say it often. And, then we have to keep saying it. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
