A LOOK AT THE CONSTITUTIONReader comment on item: Reflections on Obama's Inauguration Submitted by DANIEL REDMOND (United States), Jul 13, 2009 at 19:18 Well, Abu, I don't recall hearing Obama make such a pronouncement regarding the "fundamentally flawed" status of the U.S. Constitution. A reading of the Constitution quickly discloses that it is in fact largely a document detailing the limits of governmental authority over citizens, which is a good thing in my opinion. Was Obama my dream candidate? Certainly not. Given the option, I would have preferred someone with a bit more experience than six years in the Illinois State Senate and less than one term in the United States Senate. But all things considered I think Barack Obama was not a bad choice and certainly better than the alternative we were given by our two-party system---a cantankerous 72 year old former war hero and his clueless running mate known in some circles as "Carabou Barbie." And, yes, Obama's life was put under a microscope. If there was any room for scandal the media would have found it and reported it. His evident lack of a coherent China policy was not deemed sufficiently detrimental by a majority of voters to disqualify him. Sorry, but that's the way it goes in our system of democratically elected heads of state. D.R.
