Something you failed to mentionReader comment on item: Palestinians Who Helped Create Israel Submitted by Re: Yossi (United States), Mar 30, 2009 at 03:38 Submitted by Yossi (United States), Mar 27, 2009 at 06:31 I'd love to believe that this would put an end to the conflict. However, the Arab/Muslim world consistently rejects the idea of the Jewish state in the Middle East, and does not really ask (or care about) the Palestinians. Otherwise why insist for them to rot in "refugee camps" for generations - a unique case in history? Even if tomorrow 60% of the Palestinians would magically accept Israel, there is entire Arab/Muslim world, plus orgs. like UNRWA, interested in the continuation of the conflict. Why? Because it allows the despots to get away with murder and still get billions from the gullible West, it deflects popular anger and legitimate grievances, it keeps worldwide jihad going, it keeps oil prices up, etc. The Palestinians also need the conflict, see: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/printarticle.cfm/the-addicted-palestinians-14384 ***Something very important that shouldn't be ignored is the doctrine of Islam that provides an automatic guarantee into "heaven" : by way of jihad. Without war many of the uneducated hordes of Muslims would have to do it the hard way -- (and we all know how hard it must be to ignore all of the wonderful freedoms of Western civilization and not be absolutely miserable and secretly envious; while pretending to follow Islam to the letter). ****** Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
