"Gazi" means "jihadist" and "gazavat" means "jihad"Reader comment on item: Palestinians Who Helped Create Israel Submitted by Ianus (Poland), Dec 29, 2009 at 06:31 A Turk who calls himself "history" writes >"Gazi(=jihadist)" ? Get a better translator before attempting to learn history please... It would be interesting to know what you mean by 'history', mythographer? As to translations, anything written before 1928 is unaccessible to you Turks without translation. You can't read your few own literate ancestors and after the violent language purges carried out by Kemal the jihadist turned secularist even if you could read Osmanlica - the language used in old Turkey- it has become a foreign language to you just like Farsi which was the base of this language. So who exactly needs a translator ? Anyway, if you wish some more details on Kemal's gazavat=jihad, then I have provided them here. > And about "the old superiority feelings", just take a look at Ataturk's top 10 quotes around and you'll see how much you are mistaken about this, too.< 10 "top" quotes by Ghazi(=jihadist) Mustafa Kemal ? I'd love to learn how many of Kemal's top sayings preserved in the banned memoirs of his wife are included there? The best Kemalist quote I know is mentioned by J. Benoist-Mechin in his book : "Mustapha Kemal Ou La Mort D'un Empire",Paris 1954. After occupying Smyrna Kemal resided in the suburbs Borova in a palace from which the burning city could be seen and even the screams of dying kafirs could be heard. Kemal was watching the hell his savage hordes were perpetrating down there with cold and ruthless eyes and pronounced a short speech : "Look and remember at these fires! They put a violent end to an epoque where there were non-Turks in Turkey. From now on there will be no Greeks or Armenians in Turkey. Turkey will be for ever for Turks only and for no one else!" > Let's all be objective about judging people and countries. Don't call your forgeries and dissimulations 'objectivity'...
