Usman Ali: The Koran is a book of very bad science and equally silly signsReader comment on item: The Voice of America, Silenced on Radical Islam Submitted by Plato (India), Apr 7, 2009 at 22:11 Usman Ali, the credentials of this expert on Koran and science is that of an engineer. I am also an engineer by training but it does not give me the qualification to pontificate on knowledge that science has revealed which is so vast that no one person (except Allah, of course) can encompass all of it. In my posts all I do is point out the discrepancies contained in the Koran. This man pontificates not just about the Koran but complex sciences like cosmology, psychology biology etc. (Like that other science in the Koran claimant, Harun Yahya). His comment on earth's gravity of which even engineers should have a good grasp is an example of his poor knowledge. I suggest you show it to any college professor of physics and he will tell you what this 'scientist' has to say about it is bunkum. Another ludicrous claim of his is that water existed before the universe was created. He makes this amazing claim because the Koran says Allah's throne was over the waters in: 011.007 YUSUFALI: He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days - and His Throne was over the waters - that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct. But if thou wert to say to them, "Ye shall indeed be raised up after death", the Unbelievers would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious sorcery!" If water existed before the rest of the universe then logically there was creation before the universe and it was limited to water so that Allah could place His throne over it and then go about bringing the rest of the creation into existence. First of all Allah needing a throne to rest His rear end is ridiculous enough, but taking the trouble to create an ocean (where was it contained, why did it not evaporate in the vacuum of empty space? All things are possible for Allah, of course) just so He could place His throne over it takes the cake for silliness. Here is something I have copied from the link you have provided (from the chapter Creation of the Heaven and the Earth): >>As was stated in the introduction, we are not trying here to prove the validity of the creation verses in the Holy Qur'an. On the contrary, the man developed theories are considered to be credible ONLY if they agree with the verses of the Holy Qur'an, because the verses of the Holy Qur'an are the words of The Creator Himself, ALLAH (SWT).<< What the author is saying is that if science contradicts the Koran then the Koran overrules science. What is the point of the title of this work 'Exploring the scientific miracles of he Holy Koran' if he is going to reject the discoveries of science if they disagree with it? Let us examine the ridiculous situation this will lead to. He claims again and again that everything is created in pairs. He does not seem to know that many living things reproduce asexually. Look up Parthenogenesis to see what I mean. This would mean that if a science student comes across an asexually reproducing oraganism he will have to reject the evidence of his eyes and continue to search fruitlessly for the mate. >>In spite of all the scientific and technical advances that exist today, the origin of the earth, our solar system and the rest of the universe remains a mystery.<< He says that the origins of the earth are a mystery on the one hand and on the other he continues thus: >>Without using the valuable information that ALLAH (SWT) Has Given in the Holy Qur'an, it will continue to be so.<< How can he insist now that the universe is a mystery ? What you should also note is that, claims to the Koran containing knowledge which science has discovered only crop up after the fact of the discovery. Never has one found any Muslim studying the Koran and coming up with the laws of embryology, cosmology, meteorology etc. The Koran claims to be a clear book, easy to understand in verses 54:40, 54:17, 54:32 etc. Why has not a single fact of science been discovered by referring to the science contained in the Koran? Why have Muslim scientists not been able to tell infidel scientists all about these sciences instead of them having to make the discoveries and Muslims rushing to point to some vague verse and saying the information is already contained in the Koran? >>In cited verse #(3-4), ALLAH (SWT) Says that He Has Created every thing in the earth then Proceeded to the heaven where He Arranged and Perfected seven heavens. From this verse we learn the following two things :- THE EARTH WAS CREATED FIRST BEFORE THE HEAVENS AND THERE ARE SEVEN HEAVENS. (Chapter 3)<< Here is this know-all saying the earth was created before the rest of the universe. The only evidence he has is the Koran and we are expected to believe whatever ever it says without demur even if it is utter nonsense. Consider these verses: 071.015 YUSUFALI: "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 071.016 YUSUFALI: "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 041.012 YUSUFALI: So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge 067.005 YUSUFALI: And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. In 71:15 Allah says He has created seven heavens one above the other. This itself tells you that Koranic science is false as in space there is no above or below. This shows that the Koran (i.e Muhammad) thinks that the earth is flat (the illusion we all have) and that we live on the surface with the sky (heavens) above. Also remember that a spherical object does not have an above or below. Now read 7:16 which says the moon is a light in the midst of the seven heavens which means the moon lies above the lowest heaven. Read 67:5 which says Allah adorned the lowest heaven with lamps i.e. stars. The conclusion is that the Koran is saying the moon lies above the stars! What do you think of Allah's cosmology now, Usman Ali? Read these verses: 016.068 YUSUFALI: And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; The Koran claims that bees eat all the produce of the earth whereas it is known that bee food is pollen and nectar. Another really ridiculous statement of the pseudo-scientist is this: >>The earth's gravity is a characteristic of its inner part (the semi-liquid layer and the layers beneath it). Chapter: Creation Phenomena<< Earth's gravity is a characteristic of the entire planet including its atomosphere if you are place above it. As you go deeper into the earth you will feel less and less gravity. Ask any college level physics student. I can go on with many other cases of bad science in the Koran. >>Water existed before the creation of the heavens and the earth.<< If water existed before the creation of the universe (heavens and earth) then there would have been a creation prior to this one to create water. Who was responsible. Does Allah claim responsibility for water? >> The heavens and the earth were joined together in one entity then ALLAH (SWT) forcibly Disintegrated them.<< This would mean the earth existed along with the heavens. The earth we know is only about 4.5 billion years old. But the universe (heavens?) is nearly 15 billion years in age. So how could they have existed together? >> The heavens and the earth were created in 6000 of our lunar years, which is equivalent to 5825.24 of our solar years.<< This is a ridiculous claim as Allah says that all He has to do create anything is just to say 'BE' and it is: 002.117 YUSUFALI: To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth: When He decreeth a matter, He saith to it: "Be," and it is. 006.073 YUSUFALI: It is He who created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): the day He saith, "Be," behold! it is. His word is the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be blown. He knoweth the unseen as well as that which is open. For He is the Wise, well acquainted (with all things). Why should Allah take 6000 years to create the universe and all it contains if He really has the power to say 'be' and it comes into existence?? I know Allah has all the time in the world but it seems Allah does not value time and is prepared to take a lazy 6000 years to bring the Universe into existence. How many years did He take to create the waters and throne over it? Or were they created by another Being to allow Allah to do His job in comfort? >>The inner part of the earth [the part below the solid foundations (the tectonic plates)] was created in the first two thousand lunar years of the creation. The solid foundations and the earth's resources were put onto the inner part in the next four thousand lunar years. During the last two thousand lunar years of the creation, the seven heavens were created from the smoke that resulted from the disintegration of the primary entity, ….<< As I asked before why does Allah labour for thousands of years when He claims to have the power to say 'be' and it exists? I showed you quoting the Koran that in that >>…..and the stars were made in the lowest heaven ONLY.<< I showed you above that this claim means the moon is above the stars. This author then claims that modern theories have this to say that the big bang theory assumes that the heaven was formed first. Then after billions of years the earth was formed by itself!. Observations from Hubble Space Telescope showed that the earth and the rest of the universe (part of the lowest heaven) have the same age. That is, they were created at almost the same time. This author seems to have no clue about what modern theories say about the beginning of the universe. Even school children now know that all the matter and energy in our universe came into existence at the Big Bang (water coming much later). He then falsely claims that modern theories claim the earth formed by itself. We know that it formed from the debris of previous stars (the heavy elements formed in their interiors) under the influence of gravity. He again dishonestly claims that observations from Hubble Space telescope shows the rest of the universe (the lowest heaven) and the earth have the same age. He has not given any reference from any astronomer or physicist for this claim Nor does he anywhere else give references, he quotes from the Koran but does not quote from scientific sources for his claims. He comes to this conclusion because a verse in the Koran says the earth and heavens were joined together once. (021.030 ) so to maintain that the Koran contains the real science of cosmology he has assert that both have the same age. Usman Ali, the Koran is full of poor science verging on the ridiculous. This pseudo scientist is a poor imitation of another pseudo scientist, Haroun Yahya. Regards Plato Submitting....
