Where is VictoryReader comment on item: Peace Process or War Process? Submitted by yuval Brandstetter MD (Israel), Sep 22, 2009 at 01:43 Daniel Pipes piece is indeed scathing but it ignores a number of salient facts. 1. Rabin: The problem Rabin faced was not that of war, but that of peace. Peace in which the Arabs who occupy the Land of israel might demand Israeli citizenship, thereby overwhelming the Jewish State with numbers. That is the ONLY reason Rabin went for the Oslo ploy, knowing full well the repercussions and predicting the ensuing war: So Rabin awarded the Arabs with a foreign citizenship. That is the only outcome of the Oslo process. Being officially foreign residents in land foreign to them, they immediately took up the Muslim views and perceptions, and started a war. (As they do in Paris and wherever they achieve local supremacy) This was exactly the outcome Rabin was after, because Rabin, being Ben Gurion's disciple, knew full well that a binational state is a recipe for disaster, and only the emigration of the foreign element might assure peace. 2. Pipes recommends Victory, but neglests to say what the demographic and geographic outcome of victory should be. Let me say categorically that if Victory means the Arabs keep their occupation of the Holy Land, it is no victory. As long as Arabs are physically present, their irredentist nature will reassert itself regardless of Crushing their will. Anyway, suppose one "crushes" the so-called Palestinian will, what of it? How does one change the fundamental islamic view of Jews as lowly dhimmis whose wish for sovereignty is a priori blasphemous and unacceptable under Qur'an? 3. Finally, the very use of the word Palestinians, a word which is unsayable in Arabic, an ethnic group which is purely an invention of Soviet advisers, a relic of the Cold War, is wrong. There is no Israeli-Palestinian conflict. There is the Jewish-Muslim conflict about Jewish sovereignty, a notion briefly grasped by the former Buish administration following 911 (the Islamo-Fascist notion) then quickly abandoned under heavy appeasement-minded media pressure. Shana Tova. This might be a year of decision, in the aftermath of destroying Iran's nuclear nightmare.
