It could be true, but then something else could be true as well.Reader comment on item: That Nobel Peace Prize: Bashes Bush, Handcuffs Obama Submitted by P C Mani (United States), Oct 10, 2009 at 02:58 Dear Dr. Pipes: It is very possible that the Norwegian Nobel prize committee awarded President Obama the Nobel prize to intentinally tie his hands against Iran. It could also be true that though they did not intentinally did it to tie his hands, they might effectively tie his hands as an unitended consequence. It is also very possible that Obama's prize is undeserved. It might even be wrong. But I am an optimist. I think this prize is a slap on the face of Islamic fundamentalists who are bent upon destroying our planet by their violence. Let us carefully observe what else happened on our planet around the day President Obama, deservedly or undeservedly, won his prize: -- One day before that Islamists bombed the Indian embassy in Kabul and killed over 40 people. -- On the exact that when the prize was announced another 40-plus people were killed in Pakistan in another bomb blast. -- The first group to openly criticize Obama's prize was none other than Al Queda. Let us grant a certain level of intelligence to Norwegian Nobel peace prize committe. I believe that they gave this prize to Obama as a slap to all those people who believe that killing is the only way to resolve problems. And Islamic fundamentaists are at the top of that list. This prize draws a contrast between the people who talk peace and prosperity and those who talk destruction in death. Let us not deviate from this optimistic conclusion. Obama could be wrong in his convictions but he is not weak in them. It is unlikely this prize will sway him one way of the other.
