correctionReader comment on item: That Nobel Peace Prize: Bashes Bush, Handcuffs Obama Submitted by Canaan (United States), Oct 14, 2009 at 22:48 "For conservative commentators ..." (1) it's not just conservative commentators. There's widespread consensus that the Nobel was absurd. " ... to deride President Obama for not achieving in nine months what the world has been unable to achieve in the Middle East for over half a century ..." (2) We're not deriding Obama because he hasn't achieved World Peace yet. We deride Obama's Nobel for trivializing the task of making peace. The world hasn't achieved Middle East peace in "over half a century" because the task is monumental. Like a little child picking daffodils, the Nobel Committee pretends that speech without action is greatly significant. "Fairy Tales do not come true. They cannot happen to you."
