Islam and fatwas and the absurdReader comment on item: Istinja' with the Torah and New Testament Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Oct 1, 2010 at 07:00 Hi GIK I agree with you and what is most amazing is that you meet two types of Muslims: those that believe this utter nonsense and those that cannot stomach the same nonsense, The first time I heard the expression inta bitifti or :you issue a fatwa which is a from of sarcasm i realized that many Muslims find such fatwas as no more than nonsense issued by an ignorant shiekh But at times a fatwa can mean a lot and I'm following the case of twin boys, that are Copts, in Egypt their father converted to islam and the state regards them as Muslims but they still live with their Coptic mother. So what the smart woman did she went to Shiekh al-Azhar and requested that he issues a fatwa that would allow her twin boys to remain Copts and it seems that he will be issuing a fatwa so stay tuned Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
