Freedom and Liberty State of Mind Found in Love of God and Those Who Love GodReader comment on item: Islamist Turkey vs. Secular Iran? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 13, 2010 at 12:27 If one does not have a proper understanding of the origins of the United States of America, and have not lived under the original precepts of the true intentions of the founding agents, then that one cannot conceivably have any true understanding of how it works and will only be contemptuous as you and so many are. Be not dismayed for that only, for you are in the company of many, including quite a company that have called America home without a true appreciation. You say that you have 'gone through the history of USA (sic),' but you have not lived it. You say 'in my understanding;' and then go on to demonstrate yours is an understanding of many that are critical of the democratic republican process that is the American form of government, but in the same breathe deny the true underpinnings that gave this country its unique status among nations, both current and historical. Some of the people that were instrumental in the formation America were indeed 'puritan,' philosophically Calvinists in their theology and decidedly fundamentalist in their prosecution of their beliefs. But there were Methodists, Lutherans, Catholics and the like that were present during the debates and arguments of trying to assemble a nation of the free in an environment of liberty. There were battles of words; and as can be seen in subsequent times of testing, battles that cost the lives of many who fought for their understanding of what it meant to be an American. You seem intent to focus on the premise of finding the flaws of the American way of life, and how hard than that be; for we are all sinners, including you. But what you do not try to find is the good that has come from embracing the love of Almighty God in the long running freedom to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And that's your problem - that you cannot see the love of Almighty God and how that may be the real reason you hate America. Finding the love of Jesus Christ is your answer to that. While we can still share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His LOVE, then America will continue under the benevolence of the Biblical beginnings under Almighty God. In your claim of going through the American history, remember this part – 'we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.' Those that held to these principles were following the Biblical truth that gave form to the freedoms sought after by all. Those that did not were following a different agenda, and did so against the better good for all; and America has had to pay dearly for the consequences of that as well. Now your ignorance of contemporary American history is decidedly colored by your antipathies for things American, for neither Reagan nor Bush (you did not specify elder or son-so we'll combine them) had any special divine influences in any of their presidencies, no matter the intent of many that have erroneously made such assertions. In that all their presidencies did have severe effects upon world politics are in fact 'signs of the times' does not alter the underlying premise of world history, that human history is under severe duress for a simple reason: sinful mankind is proving the truth of the Holy Bible as the process of globalization brings the world to its inevitable conclusion-self destruction. Were it not for the love of Almighty God, this world would have 'nuked' itself into a global holocaust long before now. We can only assume your fascination with Assange and his acts of impropriety are culled from the same herd mentality, that whatever can be done to immobilize America and its influence on the world are acts of the irreligion that is overrunning the globe. That people like Palin and Huckabee have the spotlight and are able to get out a message of retribution is not different than the fatwa's that are pronounced against those that attempt to defame the Islamic Prophet and the Quran. Neither have legitimacy in a society that embraces freedom and liberty. But neither does Assange understand that as well; and he is willing to compromise freedom and liberty for the sake of his commercial enterprise, for it has no appearance of conscience. Let us return to your continued assault on the United States Constitution, of your continued insinuations that the documents that formed America are at fault for the improperly perceived implementation of the laws that have been introduced over the subsequent decades of the American Government. Consider that the Calvinist influences that may have been present have been diluted over the intervening years as well as we see the increasingly liberal judicial renderings abrogating freedom of religious expressions. As I said before, I am not Calvinist in my application of belief and faith, that I have a more personal and loving relationship with Almighty God through my Savior Jesus Christ as based exclusively upon the WORD of the LORD, the Hebrew Holy Bible. So I look at the things that are happening contemporarily with a special eye towards the fulfillment of the Holy Bible. In that vein, it must be noted that the way some of these people are conducting their personal philosophical observances suggests they are more Arminian that Calvinist in their views. To that end, if there are those who would espouse a non-Biblical action in order to correct a perceived wrong, that is as wrong as the act by which the offender is accused. However, since Assange is not a Unites States Citizen, he should not count on the defense an American is entitled by the U. S. Constitution: but it is more likely that he will be absolved by international obfuscation of the legal ramifications. That he might be found guilty of a more subtle offense of violating the privacy rules of the offended parties is a different matter; and I would pretty much guess that they are not going to be Calvinists when they cry for his head.
