What of IslamicImperialism?Reader comment on item: My Optimism About Europe Submitted by Kepha Hor (United States), Feb 22, 2011 at 11:09 The problem is Islam, Islam, and Islam. Islam was born as an imperialist venture. Reading the Old Testament, Judaism and Christianity both have the Babylonian Exile and the position of powerless in their theological, nay, fundamental, bloodstream and understand that the Elect may incurr their Heavenly Father's displeasure and bring themselves under His temporal chastisement. Islam has no such doctrine, save as a makeshift response to a Western resurgence between 1450 and 1990 that, according to Islamic Writ and doctrine, simply was not supposed to happen. One can just as easily argue that the colonial expansion of the Christian West was forced on it by the Islamic practice of Jihad. Muhammad himself established violent jihad as the acceptable means of extending Islam, whereas the New Testament established only preaching, prayer, and ethical example as means to extend Christianity. The Crusades and Reconquista, villified as they have been by several generations of liberal, socialist, and post-modern scholars, were a Christian counter-attack on an agressive and expansive Islam. The age of exploration was also a means whereby the Christian West found itself forced to find ways to the riches of the Far East that did not depend on hostile Muslim middlemen. Islam, by its very nature, forced the West out of its preferred posture of being caretaker of the Roman imperium that it had inherited and incubator of new European states appearing on the ceded fringes of that imperium into the conquering venture. Maybe the rise of Islamoterrorism is simply the thing needed to wake up the modern West to realize that Islam is simply incompatible with all that the West holds dear. Submitting....
