Are the Prophets of God Muslims?Reader comment on item: Obama's Pretend Counterterrorism Policy Submitted by slayhy (United Arab Emirates), Nov 2, 2011 at 11:58 In your forth point you said and I quote ".....that Abram from Ur, likely of Chaldean lineage and not Arabic, was Muslim-this is from Islamic ideology and not even from the Quran. Here you are the full text from the Quran "And when Abraham said" My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, those who believe in Allah and the Last Day." He (Allah answered) said: "And as for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in joy and content for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination. (2:126) "And when Abraham and (his son) Ishmael were raising the foundations of the House (Ka'bah) (saying) "Our Lord Accept (this service) from us. Verily you are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower." (2:127) "Our Lord! and Make us Muslims (submissive) unto You and from our offspring a nation that are Muslims (submissive) unto You, and show us our rituals (of Hajj -Pilgrimage) and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, The Most Merciful." (2:128) "Our Lord! And send to them (from amongst them) a Messenger from them, who shall recite to them Your Verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Verily You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise" (2:129) "And who turns away from the religion of Abraham except who befools himself. Truly We Chose him in this world and verily, in the hereafter, he will be among the righteous"(2:130) When his Lord said to him: "Be a Muslim! (submit)" he said: "I have become a Muslim (I have submitted) to the Lord of the Worlds" (2:131) And this (submission to Allah) was bequeathed by Abraham upon his sons and Jacob (saying) "O my sons! Allah has chosen you for the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islam (Submission)." (2:132) Or were you (all) witnesses, when death approached Jacob? When he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They said: "We shall worship your Ilah (God), the God of your fathers, Ibrahim, and Ishmael and Isaac, One God and to Him we are Muslims". (2:133) (O Muslims) Say "we believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us and that which has been sent to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and Al-ASBAT (offspring of the twelve sons of Jacob) and that which has been given to Moses and Jesus and that which has been given to the prophets from their Lord, we make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we are Muslims." (2:136) Then when Jesus came to know of their disbelief, he said: "Who will be my supporter in Allah's Cause?" The Disciples said; "We are the supporters of Allah Cause, we believe in Allah and (you Jesus) bear witness that we are Muslims." (3:52) O People of the Scripture, Why do you dispute about Abraham, while the Torah and Gospel were not revealed till after him?, Have you then no sense? (3:65) Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim Hanif-(Monotheist) and he was not of those who associate others with Allah (3:67) And when I (Allah) revealed to the disciples (of Jesus) to believe in Me and My Messenger (Jesus), they said: "We believe, and bear witness that we are Muslims." (5:111) (O Muhammad) Say: "truly, my Lord has guided me to the straight path, a virtuous religion, the religion of Abraham, Hanif (Monotheist) and he was not of those who associate others with Allah" (6:161) (O Muhammad Say: "Verily my prayer and rituals my living and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (mankind, jinn and all that exists)." (6:162) "He has no partner, and of this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims" (6:163) Abraham was not an Arab or of Arabic lineage, neither was his sons Ishmael, Isaac and his grandson Jacob, they were all of non-Arab origins In the Quran there are four Arab of Arabic origins prophets mentioned there 1. Hud (Eber in the Bible) – the tribe is 'Ad (south of Arabian peninsula –Yemen today near Oman borders 2. Saleh (Probably Salah in the Bible) – the tribe is Thamud Near Madinah and Tabuk north of Arabian Peninsula, he lived in Palestine for a while before going back to live in north of Arabian Peninsula 3. Jethro of Midian 4. Muhammad of Makkah Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
