The oil barrier

The "daylight" between Israel and the U.S. is unfortunately not filled with air, but with oil. The more we and the world keep shipping boatloads of petrodollars. This excludes the rest of the world, who's oil appetites are increasing. We import 39% of our oil from "dangerous or unstable" nations. We currently send about $1.5 billion a day overseas with today's prices. Our annual oil debt has been greater than out trade deficit with China since 2008.

Except for out own Civil War, this [the war on terror] is the only war that we have fought where we are paying for both sides. We pay Saudi Arabia $160 billion for its oil, and $3 or $4 billion of that goes to the Wahhabis, who teach children to hate. It's not daylight that's keeping us apart, it's oil. We should start taxing it to wean us from our addiction, and use those taxes internally.
