ThoughtsReader comment on item: [Symposium on] The U.S. and Israel Submitted by Anon. (United States), Apr 15, 2012 at 23:44 This is an interesting topic of which there are very polarized opinions for the interesting reason that support for Israel within the US political spectrum has become a partisan issue. The Democrats' ideological orientation has switched to being (relatively) un-supportive of Israel. Perhaps this is due to the growing population of evangelical Christians and their overt sympathies for Israel. Perhaps the fact that it is a religious motivation pushes them to the polar opposite side in order not to be affiliated with religious zealots. It is an issue worth exploring in great depth. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: It is worth exploring. I expect the Left's increasing coolness toward Israel has more to do with its own evolution than a reaction to the Evangelical embrace of the Jewish state. Reader comments (34) on this item
