The Inevitability of an Iranian Nuclear SituationReader comment on item: Kenneth N. Waltz – The Stupidest Strategist? Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Jun 25, 2012 at 11:07 As for the ludicrous contention Mr. Waltz presents as a potential scenario, the acceptability of a nuclear Iran for stability (?), Dr. Pipes is pointedly correct that there is no sane reason for promoting such a circumstance to encumber the Middle East with an avowed Islamist terrorist entity being able to makes it own point at the tip of a ballistic nuclear missile. The declared reason for Iran to obtain such capability is not for deterrent, but for its stated goal to eliminate Israel from the map. Maybe, Mr. Waltz's subliminal idea of a stabilized Middle East does not have an Israel to contend with. A simple examination of the declared core principles that drive the Islamic Revolution of Iran does not suggest caution in its endeavors, instead there are manifestations of a willingness to exhaust all options to achieve its desired result of 'wiping Israel off the map,' the use of nuclear force being one that once acquired, is the one too few of the other Middle Eastern are going to be able to counter-compliance with the Iranian Ayatollah-driven regime will be mandatory-even from the west. Waltz's submission is the not the first to suggest such a posture to a nuclear Iran, but it is gaining momentum if a recognized publication is willing to give it exposure during the escalation of global revolutionary interventions in proportions that continue to appear in increasing fashion such as in Syria. Whether Waltz's contention of a nuclear Iran for stability is an expression of political fantasy, or in actuality is a trial balloon to sense other like-mindedness in global circles, or is a signal to the Iranian leadership that they are not alone in their style of thinking, is taking a symptomatic political instability of thought in which no one appears to know what to do; a situation of which that for those who would not counter the thought of nuclear war are in fact being prepared for its inevitability- and that's what needs to be discussed-how to prepare for it.
