radical Islam the source of Palestinian suffering

Reader comment on item: Lessening UNRWA's Damage

Submitted by Richard Stoecker (United States), Jul 10, 2012 at 11:11

There is such an oft-repeated myth about the Palestinian situation, that Israelis "took their land". I understand that when Israel became a state and was almost immediately attacked by an Arab coalition, the Israeli government told Arab Muslims or Palestinians living within its borders their rights would be respected, whereas the attacking Arabs warned the Palestinians so-called to flee, and those who fled were the first of today's refugees. The Palestinians have suffered, but I think surrounding Arab-Muslim countries are the most to blame.

Who can look at a map of the Middle East and not know that throughout the Middle East there are large countries predominantly Muslim that could bring in and accommodate the Palestinians, since they were originally from various parts of the region anyway.

My view is that radical Islamists are using the Palestinians as a propaganda tool, blaming Israelis for their plight. (I know that Jordan might be an exception--that Jordan did take in a lot of Palestinians.)
