in response to reader comment: radical Islam the source of Palestinian suffering

Richard, a correction is needed.

Jordan didn't "take in" Palestinians". They were already there. The country known today as Jordan was once known as "Trans-Jordan", it being that part of Palestine on the East Bank. When Israel achieved independence in 1948, Jordan invaded the West Bank and renamed itself "Jordan". The majority of the region known as historic Palestine is on the East Bank and is now occupied by the Jordanian monarchy.

Note that when Arafat started his first Intifada to liberate Palestine, it was on the Jordanian-Occupied East Bank of Palestine, in what came to be known as Black September of 1970. King Hussein understood this threat to his monarchy and nearly 10,000 people were killed in that one month. In comparison, that makes Qaddafi, Saddam, Assad, et al look like pussycats. Arafat then correctly recognized that it would be easier to get land from the Jews and moved his efforts to terrorizing Israel.

About three-quarters of Palestine is on the Jordanian-Occupied East Bank. Jordan didn't take in Palestinians - it stole almost all of their land. The majority of Jordanian citizens are Palestinians and the majority of Palestinians are Jordanian citizens. Jordan *IS* Palestine. It is unfortunate that the "Arab narrative" has taken hold in preference to the true historical facts.
