Karelia in 1944 :: Reader comments at Daniel Pipes

This item reminds me of what happened in 1944, when 430 000 people were evacuated from Karelia and moved to live in what was left of Finland. Stalin and his hordes stole 10% of Finland's area. The population of the country was about 4 million.

These Karelians were resettled in a no-nonsense no hullabaloo way. There was no UN or UNRWA to give aid. Unlike most European countries we received no Marshal aid.

Looks like we are living on different planets.
