Religion makes a world of differenceReader comment on item: The Left Distorts Breivik's Mental World Submitted by Ianus (Poland), Aug 12, 2012 at 17:19 Doug wrote : > Islam has always been a religion based on aggression as a mean of expansion. This is an extension of the tribal mentality which Islam united under one banner, and thus bringing multiple independent tribes under one idea similar to what Genghis Khan did.< As far as the Mongolians are concerned, a change in religion entailed a change of their behavior. After they became Buddhists , the Mongolian horrors came to an end, even though the tribal mentality remained. This was not the case with Mongols that converted to Islam. Their raids and aggression were stopped only after the Russians defeated their armies, occupied their lands and forced them to live according to the Russian laws not the shariah. > You cannot separate the founder of any religion from that faith, since it's practiced based on their directives. The teachings of Mohamed as stated earlier are only an extension of the social order he lived under, and are irreconcilable with the practice of peace.< If they are "only an extension of the social order he lived under", then why did Mahomet meet with such strong opposition to his teaachings which even his most brainwashed hagiographers can't conceal? The moment he died a huge rebellion broke out across Arabia and the Bedouins shook off the yoke of Islam until they were crushed into submission again and their aggression and disconent were skilfully directed outwards against rich foreign enemies - Persia and Byzantium. Note also the interesting story of the murder of a one-eyed Bedouin in A.D. 625 as described by Tabari for which the pious muderer Amr ibn Ummaya was blessed by the prophet. The Bedouin was sadistically killed because he recited the following poem to the Moslem : " I won't be a Muslim as long as I live, Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
