Sharia lawReader comment on item: Islam and Islamism in the Modern World Submitted by stanley b (United States), Feb 16, 2013 at 18:20 Ali Baba, While your seeming fair and balanced effort to defend Sharia (cloaked in a generic defense of religion) is commendable and undoubtedly accepted by most, the truth is that there are sections of Sharia law that directly contradict the constitution of the USA and the laws in our land. Those sections must be abrogated or adapted to the laws in the land that we live in. We are not bound by religious law, and apparently there is a fear, whether you think it legitimate or not, that Sharia will usurp constitutional rights of women or violent sentences dictated in the Quran and applied according to Sharia law. There has not been a need to address this with other religions because other religious practices do not threaten human life and limb.
