Thank You MikeReader comment on item: Obama's Hollow Promises Abroad Submitted by Lars Nielsen (Denmark), Feb 14, 2014 at 09:05 Thank You Mike for your comments on declining american power. Yes, You are right. Leaders are important. But the economic muscles of a superpower draw the limits for its possibilities. And it is a fact, that there are only 300 million americans and 1200 million chinese in the world. So with the current economic growth rates in mind, american power and influence is bound to decline. Also, the large american debt domestically and abroad, limits the possibilities of influence. Uncle Sam just cannot take out his large checkbook and write a check, as he did in theyears of the marshall plan. Finally, You cannot solve all problems with military and economic power. USA has spent a lot of money and military power in Afghanistan, but the results are poor. Therefore, You should not blame Obama for having a more realistic perspective on the use of american power, as compared to his predecessor George Bush. greetings LARS Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
