Limited American powerReader comment on item: Obama's Hollow Promises Abroad Submitted by Mike Melcher (United States), Feb 24, 2014 at 14:38 Hi Lars, I'm not exactly dismissing the Chinese but I am not as convinced as you that they are all they are cracked up to be at the moment. They have done a lot in recent years , however, at a terrible cost. I have had friends that have left Beijing because quite frankly they couldn't breathe the air. They also have a totally export based economy which is in danger of running out of control and is not sustainable for any lengthy period of time as is. To the north they have Russia, never a friend and sometimes an enemy. We have our problems, they do too. Life unfortunately isn't perfect but based on what I've seen I would still rather live in the West than in the East. Israel I guess is technically East but is really a Western country. Funny I have lived all over the world but in many ways I was happiest when I lived there.
