Spiegel titel page portrays a large Putin over a small Obama

This week's edition of "Der Spiegel" portrays Putin, Cameron, Merkel and Obama on its title page. Putin is three times the size of the US president. Even worse, Putin barely opens his eyes to allow for a dismissive glance down. I understand the visual arrangement as follows: Putin is the real man while the other three are but caricatures as indicated by their shrunken size.

Has there ever before been an illustration of "American irrelevance" that explicit?
