Israel, Iran, US PresidentsReader comment on item: Iran's Nuclear Buildup and American Irrelevance Submitted by Mark D (United States), Mar 20, 2014 at 18:29 That will definitely help in many ways but it could be too late to stop the Iranians from going nuclear. Let's face it. Israel is in a dangerous, foreboding position being at the horrid prospect of getting nuked by Iran. So naturally Netanyahu has ants in his pants. His speech at the UN displayed it. I think having a Republican president increases the chances of the US striking, but, if you'll excuse me for saying so, we should not depend on it. I remember you had given big accolades to Bush then got disappointed later on by his comments. He also refused to attack Iran when Israel had requested. I remember you had given big accolades to Romney early on but then got disappointed and spoke scathingly of him over things he said later on. And what if we get a type of Republican president that is in the likes of Christie, that is, sympathetic to Muslims? I am sure Christie is not the only Republican who shares this; Christie is simply the vocal one. So we can't be so sure. As for Obama, he may or may not attack. I've known stranger things happen. But he looks like a president who would, as far as I can make out, not hurt a fly or probably little he cares for Israel, so I would say he is likely not to attack. I am playing the probabilities here because the truth of the matter is we cannot be so certain what leaders will do. One thing for sure, Israel has to be ready when the time comes and not rely on any US president, whether it is Republican or Democrat. I'm awfully sorry.
