Agreement and a questionReader comment on item: Netanyahu's Steady Hand Submitted by Doug Mayfield (United States), Jul 2, 2014 at 16:44 Thank you for the article which I liked. I admire Mr. Netanyahu for doing what I consider to be a good job in a very difficult situation. I am curious about your comment that '...probably not wise for the head of a government,..., to engage in such public speculations'. I'm guessing, and it is only that, that perhaps he wanted to indicate that Israel would go along with splitting Iraq into three separate states, Sunni, Shite, and Kurd. He can't come right out and say that because everyone involved would immediately criticize him and Israel for doing so, so he chose this manner of expression. It appears that as long as these three quarreling groups try to keep themselves under one government, they will get no place and will only fight among themselves, so a split might actually be the best solution to a bad situation. I'd be interested in any comments on this issue. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
