Only one viable solutionReader comment on item: Netanyahu's Steady Hand Submitted by Michael S (United States), Jul 5, 2014 at 21:58 I agree, that Bibi Netanyahu has clearly stated Israel's position. Whether it will bring peace to the area is, of course, another matter. Ze'ev Jabotinsky, the founding spirit of Likud, had a correct understanding of the Arabs: They will continually resist Jewish settlement of the Jewish homeland; they can be expected to continually resist, and it demeans their name to think they would ever stop resisting. The solution Jabotinsky proposed was an "iron wall" to keep the Arabs from their intent to destroy the Jewish people. That solution made sense in 1948, and continues to make sense today. It is a "two-state" solution, presuming two states: The State of Us, and The State of Them. If "Them" are such an unruly people, they can't manage to keep a unified state up and running, that's their problem; and the more divided they are, the better it is for Israel. From a security standpoint, I can only advocate a "One-State" solution for Israel, because this is dictated by its geography. Israel has not been divided into viable states, since the days of spears and chariots. Even then, it was divided not into gerrymandering statelets like the proposals on the table, but into two JEWISH entities -- one in the north, and one in the south. There can only be one state west of Jordan; and the Jews and Arabs cannot abide together in one state. The obvious solution is what the Turks did as recently in 1974 in Cyprus, to the acquiescence of NATO and the world community; and what the Indians and Pakistanis did in 1948, with the full approval of the UN: The Arabs who do not want to live under Jewish rule must be moved out.
